SUMMER2020 CCÉ Boston Newsletter [PDF] (printable)

Some Highlights from our Current Newsletter

Is it really the middle of August?  Where did the summer go?  Time is defined in units of measurement  but it’s also framed against the background of events.  With many of our usual events rescheduled, cancelled  or changed, our perspective of summer has been diminished.  What summer?  But consider this.  We are five  months into the pandemic.  But we are also five months into the science of the virus as scientists around the world work on a vaccine.   The Comhaltas organization is striving to bring you opportunities to continue participating in Irish music, dance, language, history, and cultural and social events in the safest ways possible.

Comhaltas/Branch News

The Larry Reynolds Memorial Scholarship is now open to branch members under the age of 21 years. For information go to cceboston.org/scholarships/ where you can check your eligibility, download the application and submit online.

Some Highlights from our Current Newsletter

Globally, the response to the pandemic has been of change and adapting.  Our newsletter is no exception.  Notices about live dances, music sessions and fundraisers have been replaced in our newsletter with virtual opportunities. But the bulk of this newsletter includes the reflections, thoughts, resources and even the words of a song submitted by branch officers and board members offered in support of and in gratitude for you, our members.

Comhaltas/Branch News

The next newsletter will be the “Summer Edition” and we invite you, our members, to share your stories with us.   Found a great music/dance resource?  Heard from a  old friend of CCE? Let us know by emailing Barbara Davis  at  cceboston@verizon.net

springtime Boston 2020

Springtime Boston 2020 is like no other in recent history.  The trees on Boston streets continue to bloom and the birds sing but there is no traffic (and no need for ‘blinkahs’ ) as we humans  “cocoon” at home in response to Covid-19 … away from the ceilis, the live music, the tunes and the songs…all that gives us life and joy.  In response to and in the spirit of resiliency,  we celebrate technology which connects us.

On behalf of the RHC Board, Tara Lynch, Frank Kennedy, Michael Hickey, Barbara Davis, John Kearney, Tom Crean and myself, we extend to all of you our wish for a happy hope filled Easter.

Slainte mhor agus a h-uile beannachd duibh
Good health and every good blessing to you!

(A Gaelic Prayer)
