Tutor Biographies

Cathal Hayden
One of Ireland’s most celebrated fiddle and banjo players, Cathal Hayden hails from Co. Tyrone and has enjoyed an acclaimed international career spanning more than four decades. A founding member of Four Men and a Dog, Cathal is renowned for his powerful style, technical brilliance, and deep connection to the tradition.

Dónal Murphy
Originally from Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick, Dónal Murphy is widely regarded as one of Ireland’s finest button accordion players. Also a founding member of Four Men and a Dog, he is known for his energetic performances, exceptional rhythm, and mastery of polkas and slides. He has toured extensively worldwide and released critically acclaimed solo recordings.

Alan G. Murray
Originally from Glasgow and now based in New York, Alan G. Murray is one of the most respected accompanists in Irish traditional music today. A member of Solas, Alan is celebrated for his tasteful guitar playing, inventive bouzouki accompaniment, fine singing voice, and extensive teaching experience at workshops and festivals around the world.
