  • RHC CCÉ Branch Virtual Tea Social
    Zoom in to our next virtual tea session on Sunday, May 16th 3-5 p.m. Look for an email invite from Tara to RSVP. Join in and play a tune, dance, recite a poem, tell a joke, sing a song or simply enjoy the entertainment and an uplifting afternoon seeing each other while we cannot yet get together in person.

  • CCÉ North America Convention
    Organizers are planning the next CCE NORTH AMERICA CONVENTION (sign up for their emails) in San Francisco, California. Save these dates: April 21-24, 2022.
  • Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann
    Fleadh Cheoil, the largest of the annual Irish traditional music festivals, will be replaced in 2021 by an online ‘FleadhFest’. The popular fleadh will return to Mullingar in August 2022. Meanwhile do check out the FleadhFest (their official page) August 1-9.
    “FleadhFest will provide each province, county and Comhaltas branch worldwide with the opportunity of presenting performances and archive footage online. The format will be a two-hour pre-recorded event that will be broadcast on social media. For up to date deets, visit www.facebook.com/fleadhcheoil.ie.”

Special Announcement! Larry Reynolds Memorial Scholarship

We are accepting applications for the Larry Reynolds Memorial Scholarship now through June 15, 2021.
An applicant for the Larry Reynolds Memorial Scholarship Award should be a person under 21 years of age who participates in and contributes to the Irish Music/Dance/Song/Culture and Community of New England and is a member of the Reynolds-Hanafin-Cooley branch of CCÉ. Applicants are not required to be enrolled in our music school in order to apply. Previous winners may not apply again for 5 years. Community Events in May

  • Boston College Irish Studies
    There are no events scheduled in May, but check occasionally on the Gaelic Roots Facebook page for announcements.
  • Irish Cultural Centre
    Visit the ICC Website: www.irishculture.org for all their happenings. They are following all Covid-19 guidelines.
  • Irish History Courses
    Member Sean Murphy is holding a series of 2 more history courses starting May 13th. We recently sent an email with details.

Virtual Irish Music Programs

  • The Comhaltas website has a music and video archive  www.comhaltas.ie/music 
  • Clare FM – The West Wind.  Listen live Monday to Friday 2 to 4 pm Boston time .  www.clare.fm  ~  listen to back recordings
  • TG4 Irish television channel www.tg4.ie  has a terrific archive of music programs. The website can be switched to English at the top right hand corner of the page.  Recommended ~ watch programs such as Gradam Ceoil TG4, Tradfest TG4, Sé Mo Laoch,  Geantraí,  Hup  and many more.
