Thank You, Sally & Joe Harney!
For nearly 40 years, Sally & Joe have dedicated themselves to keeping the Irish Set Dance tradition flourishing in the Boston area. Sally, our Múinteoir Damhsa (Dance Teacher) has taught the traditional Irish Sets and footwork. Joe has assisted by teaching the basics and providing lots of encouragement to the beginners. Together they have easily volunteered more that 8,000 hours of their time to foster this great Irish tradition.
Sally and Joe have decided to step back from this commitment.
Over this time span there have been:
- Millions of steps that glided, pattered, battered, or otherwise danced accross the hall by
- Hundreds of dancers
- Many friendships have formed, a few marriages started
- Moments of sadness and grief at the passing of dancers we have come to know
- But most of all lots of fun times, and countless laughs, that have enriched our lives
These are some precious moments from their tribute on Sunday September 22, 2024 at Florian Hall, Dorchester, MA
